Welcome to the homepage of the Earthquake Seismology Group at Stanford University. We investigate earthquakes, their location, the physical mechanisms that generate them and the ground motions associated with rupture.
Areas of interest include high-resolution earthquake locations, the physics of earthquake rupture, including earthquake nucleation, rupture dynamics, radiated seismic energy and energy scaling. Subduction zone seismicity and predicting earthquake ground motion for seismic hazard analysis are also of interest to us.
